We are happiest when we are advancing, when we are meeting challenges with skills equal to the task. Think back to your most fulfilling moments - were you lounging or pushing yourself forward?

With this in mind, this month’s checklist features the five major areas of your life along with a question: what is one small thing you can change or improve in this area by summer’s end?

Identity
What is one thing you would like to change about your identity? Are there any personality traits you’d like to gain, perhaps being more confident or assertive? Any you’d like to remove?

Health
What is one thing you would like to improve about your health? Do you need to add a little activity to your day? Cut down on a favorite but fatty treat? Finally schedule an appointment with your physician?

Relationships
What is one thing you would like to modify in your relationships? Would you like to spend more time with your children? Spouse? Do you need to improve your interpersonal skills?

Career
What is one thing you would like to develop in your career? Are there any books you’d like to read to increase your value at work? Projects you’d like to launch or finish? A responsibility you’re hoping to step into?

Finances
What is one thing you would like to alter about your finances? Do you want to create a budget? Stick with your current one? Interested in learning more about investing or building your nest egg?

With a few simple goals to keep you busy throughout the summer, you’ll realize the happiness you’ve been seeking isn’t at the end of the road but instead right in the middle of the work.
