Default Instrumentation Engineer

Principal Duties: Provide technical reliability direction to key stakeholders. Participate in Root cause analysis of system, equipment/process problems and in failure analysis of Incidents related to safety, environmental or production impact, and in design reviews. Develop and deploy methodology to monitor and reduce system failures. Serve as the subject matter expert for Instrumentation standards and practices. Conduct Reliability audits and participate in Risk-based decision making, performance benchmarking as required. Provide inputs to KPIs and develop performance indicators for applicable cases to monitor progress towards reliability objectives. Consult in the development of projects for improvements and expansions. Recommend changes in operating conditions, design standards, maintenance/repair standards, and maintenance programs. Review for adequacy and effectiveness all maintenance procedures, PM Check lists including comprehensive instrumentation/electrical checklists, equipment repair records, CBM, PDM, PM programs. Identify improvement opportunities and recommend actions to improve equipment reliability. Program reassessment results shall be input into Maintenance Strategies and Programs for improvement. Evaluate and recommend changes to Installation practices, measurement technologies, materials of construction. Promptly investigate and address all action items, document recommendations in maintenance management system. Systematically analyze equipments/processes to identify important contributors to unreliable performance, develop/implement practical recommendations to improve reliability performance. Investigate and recommend solution to field operating problems involving digital control systems (DCS), emergency shutdown systems (ESD), conventional analog control and digital/ analog field instruments. Prepare written reports and recommendations. Communicate with equipment vendors and meet with company technical consultants concerning new technology, equipment upgrades, revision to standards, purchase specifications, test procedures and new project designs. Plan, schedule and provide coordination and work direction as required for the preparation of designs, processes, reports, correspondence and related data and assures the efficiency, adequacy and conformance to over all objectives of project. Act as technical consultant when required, discuss, coordinate and resolve problems with personnel throughput company and subsidiaries and with outside of company organizations. Recommend new installations or modifications to improve existing facilities and standardization within specific fields of endeavor, estimate cost, prepare justifications to complete expenditure requests as required and review directed works of engineers. Field inspection, commissioning, project coordination and design, engineering specialist support in area of rotating equipment, electrical power system and instrumentation and process control systems. Specialist for the operation, repair, testing and troubleshooting of instruments and equipments. Apply sound engineering principles and identify risks in development of work scopes, risk reviews, hazops. Execute analytical and troubleshooting skills to address Instrumentation issues. Education: BS Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline of engineering Experience At least 10 years experience DCS, ESD and field instrumentation and controls in the oil and gas industry. The last 3 years, at a minimum, in a Western Company. Project experience from design stage, construction, and commissioning; thorough knowledge of DCS, ESD, field instrumentation, oil plant equipment and process; gas turbine and gas compressor control, SCADA and communication experience; Strong Experience with advanced process control DCS systems. Knowledge of instrument systems and equipment reliability programs. Equipment and system knowledge and experience shall include: Protections systems, PLCs, foundation field bus, flow measurement and control. Skills and abilities: Shall have a wide knowledge in various fields of instrumentation including instrumentation specification and selection, control system(s) programming. Shall understand the requirements for operability, maintainability and reliability. Shall be capable of analysing field problems and recommending a timely resolution. Shall possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Shall possess leadership qualities, have the ability to work in a team environment and are capable of providing solutions to work related challenges. Ability to work with and train others. Must have a thorough knowledge of engineering practices, calculation methods, design details and international codes, standards and specifications. Technical strength coupled with interpersonal skills. Excellent planning and execution drive to deliver results and meet quality, cost and schedule targets. Must have strong PC skills and professional written and verbal communication. Demonstrated commitment to safety in an operating plant environment.Other Requirements: Experience in the oil and gas industry is desirable.
