Default Mainframe CICS and MQ Series Systems Engineer

Job Purpose: EMEA TI Mainframe CICS and MQ Series Systems Engineer supporting European Corporate and Consumer Investment business. Reporting to EMEA TI Mainframe Middleware Systems Engineering Regional Manager.EMEA TI Mainframe CICS and MQ Series System Engineer reports to he EMEA TI Mainframe Middleware System Engineering Regional Manager " Bernd Wagner. Bernd Wagner reports to Michael Buehning " EMEA TI Mainframe Systems Engineering Manager. The CICS and MQ Series Systems Engineer will be part of a team providing both support and project services for the Corporate Bank based in London and the Consumer Bank based in Meerbusch. The team provides on-site cover from 09:00 to 17:00 and on call cover outside of this period. Weekend work is required to support upgrades and installations. Job Background/context: The London Data Centres provide data processing and telecommunications services to the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) offices of Citigroups Corporate Banking divisions. Support for the Corporate, Private Bank and Asset Management business is provided by Mainframe and Midrange equipment based at Data Centres in Lewisham and Canary Wharf (London, UK). Support for the Consumer business is provided by Mainframe and Midrange equipment based in Data centres at Meerbusch and Dsseldorf. for A separate Data Centre in Zurich services Swiss based operations. The business processed is both high volume and high value and it is essential that very high levels of system availability be maintained. The EMEA TI Mainframe Systems Support Group maintains Mainframe software and interfaces with all other Citigroup Technical Infrastructure (CTI) support groups. It works in collaboration with teams located in Meerbusch, London, and Zurich, with applications development groups and Network Services groups throughout the world. The EMEA TI Mainframe CICS and MQ Series Systems Engineer will be located in either London, Meerbusch or Singapore. Travel may be required between Germany, London and Zurich with limited travel elsewhere. Knowledge/Experience: A skilled software professional with knowledge of CICS and MQ Series on z/OS and a broad knowledge of CICS and MQ Series related software. Additionally, knowledge of z/OS or OS/390 systems programming in a large mainframe environment, experience of AIX (UNIX) and IBM TX Series would be an advantage. Accustomed to supporting a 24*7 high value operation, where there is a rapid rate of technical change, but reliability is mandatory, hence adherence to all Citigroup Technology Infrastructure standards and procedures is a necessity. Experiences preferably to have been obtained in a major financial institution. A self-starter, but also a completer/finisher who ensures that tasks/projects are fully completed with the necessary updates to documentation. Well organised and able to keep a number of activities in progress in parallel, balancing priorities as necessary, in particular between support and project work. A good team member, able to guide/support colleagues and to take guidance where necessary.Key Responsibilities: Install and maintain CICS and MQ Series and related system software and keep within Citigroup standards. Evaluate new software, research ways and means of improving performance, increasing reliability and facilitating monitoring, make recommendations to management and implement as appropriate. Liaise with third party suppliers to ensure co-ordination of support across service suppliers. Liaise with Applications Production Support groups to aid in problem diagnosis. Act as consultant to Applications Development groups on technical matters pertaining to CICS and MQ Series application design and performance. Provide support and advice to remote locations. Monitor the performance of the CICS and MQ Series and instigate remedial action where necessary, adhering to the normal escalation procedures. Produce clear technical documentation and conform to any audit requirements. Qualifications: Likely to be A level or above, but proven technical knowledge is more important. Any Graduate, B.Tech, MCAExp : 5+ Years of ExpJob Location: London, Germany (Meerbusch) or Singapore.
