The government will allocate £25m towards supporting the skills needs of the youth workforce. The Ten*Year Youth Strategy is funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and will be managed by sector skills councils Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK), with support from youth work employers, Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC), the Children’s Workforce Network, and other sector skills councils. The skills initiative is part of a wider commitment from the government’s new youth workforce strategy which includes a focus on increasing diversity in the youth workforce, reviewing and championing the youth work apprenticeship, a common platform of skills and training for the youth workforce and support for the third sector’s role in engaging with young people.
